Growing up in Ogdensburg and graduating from St Lawrence University in 1992, Dr. Athena Graves has committed herself to excellence in dentistry as a practitioner, a well-regarded lecturer, instructor, and spokesperson on dental topics since she graduated from the School of Dental Medicine at SUNY-Buffalo in 1996.
Since graduating from dental school, Dr. Athena Graves has committed herself to lifelong education and professional development through continuing education. She has advanced training in orthodontics, endodontics, TMJ disorders, and is certified in Lumineers™. She has also received certification for Periolase™, an FDA approved laser procedure for the treatment of periodontal disease. Her latest training has focused on some of the advances in the treatment of tooth sensitivity and whitening. All this advanced training allows her to offer you faster and more comfortable procedures than ever before.
Prior to opening her own office here in 2006, Dr. Graves practiced in Rutland, Vermont and Binghamton, New York. She served as a clinical instructor at the Broome County Community College Hygiene School and also lectured Master’s nursing students on geriatric dental care She has been interviewed on television in connection with “Doctors with a Heart Day” (where free care is provided for those who cannot afford it) or featured on local news casts promoting the Halloween Candy Buy Back program that both pays kids for their extra Halloween candy as well as supports US Troops overseas with care packages. Dr. Graves and Champlain Smiles regularly participate in the health and welfare of the community by donations of both time and money to various groups.
She and her husband, Jeff, have two children. In her spare time, you will find her hiking, quilting, or engaged in family activities.
Growing up in Cadyville NY, Michele attended Saranac Central School and Hudson Valley Community College for Dental Hygiene. Michele really enjoys meeting new people as well as spending time with her friends and family.
When she is not making our patients smile, Michele enjoys traveling around the country by motorcycle. She also plays piano and is active in her Church. She has two grown boys and a wonderful husband.
